About Communities First Blaenau Gwent – Ebbw Fawr Cluster

Communities First is a Welsh Government programme that supports the national Tackling Poverty agenda across Wales. The programme aims to achieve this by concentrating on the 3 main themes of the programme:

  • Healthy Communities
  • Learning Communities
  • and Prosperous Communities

Each Communities First area is known as a Cluster and local Communities First teams have been asked by the Welsh Government to develop activities under each of the themes with their particular community in mind, since what works in one Cluster may not work as well in another. Communities First teams therefore work closely with residents, voluntary organisations and other agencies to make sure that the activities within local delivery plans avoid duplicating other services and are as valuable as possible to local people.

Ebbw Fawr Communities First

The Ebbw Fawr Communities First team sees progression into a job by developing skills, increasing knowledge, and confidence as really important ways of helping local people to reach their potential and improve their circumstances. Many of the varied activities we deliver therefore help them to gain new skills and knowledge, and to support them to take that next step.

Our activities are delivered in a variety of venues that suit local people, and we often use community buildings up and down the valley, so that they are as accessible as possible to local people.

If you would like more information on any of the activities delivered by the Ebbw Fawr team, let us know – there are lots of ways to get in touch, our details are on the right.

The Ebbw Fawr Communities First Cluster team is employed and managed by Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO)
