About Bridgend Flying Start

Flying Start is a Welsh Government programme which aims to make a difference to the life chances of children aged under four and give them a ‘flying start’.

Flying Start aims to support children’s development, health and well-being by working with parents and professionals in partnership.

Benefits of the programme include:

  • Funded high-quality, part-time childcare
  • An enhanced health visiting service
  • Access to parenting programmes
  • Early language development

Who is this for?

The Flying Start areas in Bridgend County Borough include Betws, Caerau, Afon-y-Felin, North Cornelly, Blackmill, Lewistown, Maesteg Park, Oakwood Estate, Sarn and identified streets in Brackla, Cefn Glas and Wildmill. More than 1,500 children have already benefitted from the programme in these areas.
