Camp Bestival Sign

Camp Bestival – 28th to 31st July 2016 – Lulworth Castle, Dorset

This summer we were given the opportunity to attend our first family festival. Camp Bestival!

Camp Bestival is a fun-filled action pack weekend for all the family to enjoy. Live acts, fun activities and workshops were running throughout the whole weekend.

Can you imagine being a single mum with a 9 year old beaming with excitement trying to pitch a tent on a very windy hill? Yes, this was me! A challenge for some and entertainment for others!

After that nightmare was over we were able to relax and visit the festival area. Both myself and my son was taken back by the amount of things there were to do, see and experience. One of our main highlights was jumping on the world’s biggest bouncy castle. I think we were both 9 years old for that 10 minutes.

With the weather on our side and the sun beaming down there were many great acts entertaining the crowd such as Mr Tumble, Mr Motivator, X Factor’s Reggie and Bollie and Jess Glynne.

Being a single mum attending my first festival and fairly new to camping it was daunting not having expert equipment and not really knowing what exactly to plan for. This resulted in us spending more money than expected on necessities. Yet, as most parents can appreciate, it was lovely to have a night off cooking and cleaning to chill out and take it all in. The event is very well organised and we also met some lovely families along our way.

Camp Bestival is really one of the best!

Overall we both thoroughly enjoyed this weekend and for any parent contemplating a family festival I would definitely recommend going! We will cherish these memories forever and whatever age you or the children are there is plenty to do! We cannot wait to go again.
