Most schools in Wales have chosen to do half-term next week from Monday 26th to Friday 30th October 2015.
We all know that it can be a bit of struggle to keep children engaged and entertained without ruining your wallet – especially as the sun no longer has his hat on – so here’s seven tips for what to do this half-term in Wales and all for free.
1. The Park
It’s a staple of free things to do and with good reason, as the local park is an excellent way to spend time with your family. Exercise, nature, fresh air, away from the screen, cherish your local park and the time you spend there.
2. Roald Dahl Game
Yes it’s basically trying to shift some washing powder but this excellent free game for tablets can easily rinse away an afternoon. More details here.
3. Play Tennis
4. Hobbycraft Hobby Sessions
Hobbycraft’s three Welsh stores (Cardiff, Newport, Swansea) are taking part in the UK-wide promotion of free workshops and demonstrations across half-term. More details.
5. Make A Den
Got any old bedsheets, dust mats, or curtains at the back of the airing cupboard? That’s a den that is…
6. Watch TV In Real Life
Shows are always after audience members, check to see if there’s anything filming near you on Applause Store.
7. Mosey Round The Museum
All of the National Museum Wales sites are free to enter and these include:
- The big one in Cardiff
- Big Pit: National Coal Museum (Blaenavon, near Abergavenny)
- National Roman Legion Museum (Newport)
- National Slate Museum (Llanberis, Gwynedd)
- National Waterfront Museum (Swansea)
- National Wool Museum (Near Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire)
- and St Fagans National History Museum (Cardiff)
