About Newport Families First

Families First Newport provides support to families with children who are facing difficulties, especially to those with low-incomes.

Families First provides different types of support to the whole family depending on what your needs are. They do this through projects, activities and training that is organised by parts of the council, charities and other organisations.

The projects that are currently funded by the Families First programme in Newport are grouped in six strands:

Who is this for?

Families First in Newport supports families, children and young people up to 25 years living in the City of Newport.

Newport Flying Start

If you live in a Flying Start area and have a child under 4, Flying Start will support your family to give your child the best start in life.  We offer many services under one roof to help your child prepare for school and succeed in the long term, as well as funded part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds.

Newport Supporting People Programme

The Supporting People Programme in Newport delivers housing-related support to people over 16 years of age who need help to find or keep their home and live independently.
