About Rhondda Cynon Taf Flying Start

Flying Start is the targeted Early Years programme for families with children under 4 years of age in certain parts of Wales and aims to give them the best possible “Flying Start” in life.

The core elements of the programme are to influence positive outcomes for children and their families including:

  • Free quality, part-time childcare for 2-3 year olds for 12.5 hours per week in 5 x 2.5 hour sessions
  • An enhanced Health Visiting service
  • Access to Parenting Programmes ranging from Support Groups to Baby Massage and Aqua Tots. More Language and Play programmes are available in each area with an increased range of advice and activities.
  • Early Language Development

Who is this for?

If you live in a Flying Start area, your Health Visitor will let you know about the service available to you, alternatively you can contact the Family Information Service or the Flying Start Core Team.

If you’re not eligible for Flying Start, there may be other services that are available to you. Please contact Rhondda Cynon Taf FIS to find out.
