Sustrans Cymru have six top Easter family activities that you can access via cycle paths and routes in Wales. So dig the bikes out of the shed, borrow some from friends or hire from a bicycle shop and explore our beautiful country on two (or more) wheels.

Cadw, who preserve historic sites in Wales for the public (like English Heritage does in England) have 24 epic adventures that you and your family can do this year. Some of these adventures are free. Also pop along to see Mike the Knight at Cadw Castles (Raglan Castle on Saturday 26th March, Harlech Castle on Sunday 27th March and Caernarfon Castle on Monday 28th March), where he will be making knightly appearances at intervals from 11am–4pm.

Field + basket + chocolate eggs = happy child… most of the time. Here’s a selection of Easter egg hunts happening across the country, broken down county-by-county…

Across the country: Most of Cadw’s castles, chapels and curiosities will be hosting egg hunts – most start at 11am on Sunday 27th March. Most of the hunts are free, but the usual entry fee to venue applies.

BridgendBryngarw Country Park – 11am on Sunday 10th April. £1 per child.

ConwyRSPB Conwy’s Easter egg hunt – 10.30am, 1pm & 2.30pm, Sunday 27th March. Wildlife Explorers £4, non-members £6. Accompanying non member adults £2. Booking essential.

Wrexham: There’s various Easter trials and hunts in the parks and countryside of Wrexham, and you can find a lot of them here. Prices vary.

Fetes, Fairs & Fun Times

CardiffFree Family Interactive Matinee – National Dance Company Wales @ Wales Millennium Centre –  10.30am, Saturday 2nd April . Free but ticketed.

CardiffLittle Aeroplanes and Playground Games @ Wales Millennium Centre – From 11am, Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd April. Free entry.

Caerphilly & Gwynedd: Lego and Minecraft Workshops @ Caerphilly Castle and Caernarfon Castle – Monday 28th March to Friday 1st April. £8 plus entry fee.

Conwy: Easter Saturday Event @ St Paul’s Methodist Church Hall, Abergele – From 10am, Saturday 26th March. Free entry. For more info email gwrychtrust@gmail.com

DenbighshireEaster Eggstravaganza @ SeaQuarium Rhyl – Saturday 19 March 2016 – Sunday 10 April 2016. Usual entry fee applies.

Gwynedd: Get Creative Day @ Galeri, Caernarfon – From 9.30am, Friday 1st April. Free entry.

Gwynedd: National Trust Events across the county – this month, next month, the whole year actually. Mostly free.

Neath Port Talbot: Easter Fun Day @ South Wales Miners Museum –  From 10.30am, Saturday 26th March. £5.

Pembrokeshire: Kids animation festivals, Beatrix Potter treasure hunts, duck races, there’s loads happening in Pembrokeshire over the bank holiday and beyond.

Powys: Easter Bonanza Fun Afternoon @ Llanerfyl Village Hall – 2pm on Saturday 26th March. Free entry.

Powys: Cymry Bach… – Welsh story, movement and rhyme time @ Newtown Library – 11am, Friday 1st AprilWelshpool Library – 1.30pm, Monday 4th April and Llanfyllin Library – 1.30pm, Friday 1st, 15th & 29th April. Free entry.
