About Communities First in Wrexham

Communities First in Wrexham works with residents, community organisations and local businesses to help tackle the effects of poverty.

We run a range of projects that can help you to make a positive change in your life.   We offer lifelong learning opportunities from basic skills through to job focused training, access to benefits/ debt advice, assistance with seeking employment (writing CV’s, interview techniques, job search/ applying for jobs), youth projects, play projects, assistance with access to health services, confidence building and group activities. We also have volunteering opportunities.

In Wrexham there are two Communities First areas known as clusters:

Flying Start is the Welsh Government targeted Early Years programme for families with children under 4 years of age in certain areas of Wales.

Wrexham Families First

Families First in Wrexham supports families, particularly those on low incomes, with a clear emphasis on prevention and early intervention. Many agencies work together to help the whole family.

Wrexham Supporting People Programme

Housing related support / Disability / Health and Well-being / Homelessness / Domestic Abuse / Offending / Substance misuse /Alcohol misuse / Mental health / Other groups as above

Supporting People commissions housing related support services to help those who need extra support to live independently and avoid the risk of becoming homeless.
