Carmarthenshire Communities First

Carmarthenshire Communities First works to support individuals and families through programmes focusing on healthy, prosperous and learning communities.     Free face-to-face information, support and advice to parents and grandparents to help them fulfil their responsibilities to, maintain direct contact with and develop meaningful relationships with their children and grandchildren.
  • JigSo Children’s Centre
    JigSo is a free, bilingual children’s centre which offers a variety of support services to parents and children (from birth up to the age 14), as well as classes and activities on: safety; communication and language focus; health and wellbeing; personal, social and emotional development; physical development, community, and plenty more. 
  • Gingerbread
    Support and practical advice for single parents.
  • Grandparents Association (0845 434 9585)
    Advice, information and support for grandparents, including those with full-time care of their grandchildren, those who’ve lost contact with them, and more. Services include a website, a general helpline, a welfare benefits helpline, support groups and factsheets.
  • National Childbirth Trust (NCT): West Wales Branch
    A network of local parents in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire offering practical and emotional support, information and friendship, including antenatal classes and postnatal groups. Note: You can also ask your midwife, health visitor or GP about antenatal classes.
  • Parenting. Give It Time

  • SNAP Cymru
    SNAP Cymru provides free, specialist, independent and advice and support to parents, children and young people (0 -25) who have or may have additional learning needs. This includes a bilingual telephone helpline service, a specialist casework service, disagreement resolution and support at meetings, tribunals and appeals.
